Looking back…If this is your first blog, I would encourage you to look back at the last blog, which details our trip to the Amabssadors’ Academy! These smaller pictures serve as an amazing reminder of how life-changing it was…and how we were able to put our certificates and Gospel tracts on display as I recover! Daniel has also had some preaching opportunities! You can hear the audio to his latest sermon here: 5 Keys of Nathan’s Effective Ministry: youtu.be/Fw1QK5EiCFo. He was able to lead a Bible study using the sermon outline for our church’s campus evangelism group. You can see a picture of that above with a drawing Taliah helped color that related to the lesson! Recently we have been VERY blessed to share the Gospel through a church campus ministry to Arizona State University. Nothing is more important than the Gospel, so we have been excited to share with people their need of a Savior through the Law (showing that we have all lied, stolen, etc.) and then getting to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the God-man, with those who are humble. Please pray for that ministry! So far, we have had great conversations with the Orthodox, atheists, and people from India! As for the last picture, this is the outline for an amazing sermon preached by missionary Ryan Mitchell. Here is the sermon here: Doing Missions Biblically link: youtu.be/SGYsnsj5cE8 Please pray for our missionaries specifically; there was a huge earthquake in Papua New Guinea that destroyed their homes. Everyone is okay, but they deeply appreciate your prayers. You can learn more here: Finisterre Mission Earthquake Relief: www.finisterremission.org/ Want more info about our background?Kangaroos? Yes, Daniel, my husband, was born and raised in Australia his whole life, up until he came to America for missionary training (with the plan of going back to Papua New Guinea, which is just above Australia) just a few short years ago. Lord willing, we want to go to the unreached people groups of Papua New Guinea and share the Gospel with a tribe that has NO access to the Bible in their language and NO biblical church. That’s why Daniel is back in seminary now. So, in the rest of this blog, I’ll highlight some evangelism and seminary adventures! Evangelism even in play…What does this have to do with evangelism? Simply put, it’s so important to think about the urgency of the Gospel message. If you were in a burning building, wouldn’t you do whatever it took to put the fire out? What would you get first? Who would you care about the most? What objects come to your mind first? What priority does the Gospel have in your life, because eternity is even more serious than a burning building. That’s why we read God’s Word, share the Gospel daily, and study hard! And…Taliah is learning too!!Taliah loves reading already, and learning all kinds of things at the library! But what about seminary? This year, Daniel has his BIGGEST load: 7 classes! I’ll plan to share more about each class in future blogs, but in this blog, I’ll just briefly mention each class as the pictures keep coming. But first, more about missions! What is this?In a previous blog, I included the rickety bridge picture to the right zoomed in without the context of where I found the picture. This gives a very different perspective, just like when people think of missions. That word could mean many different things…so it’s important to zoom out and give more context on what we mean. What we mean by what we think is the most needful form of missions is going somewhere that is extremely remote, where they have NO Bible in their language and no solid doctrine because they have no biblical church. This is what we mean by unreached people groups. Only 2% of missionaries go to the unreached. Out of 7,000+ languages, more languages HAVE NO SCRIPTURE in their language than those that do. The need is great, and the laborers are VERY few. Apologetical Methodology! Here is an example of American “Christianity”. This is not biblical Christianity (referring to Joel Osteen), rather a false understanding based on self, not based on lack of knowledge (like the people of Papua New Guinea), but based on a culture with more resources than it knows what to do with. Our culture is built on self-focus, not on God’s Word. So, what does “Apologetical Methodology” mean? It’s one of Daniel’s seven classes, and it’s focus is having a solid focus on God’s Word, not on self. He won’t be reading Joel Osteen, and neither will Taliah… She’s enjoying the summer!Parks, especially ones with water, are great for sharing the Gospel! It’s so fun to be able to see Taliah grow and play, and then to be able to share God’s Word with others! Phoenix is still extremely hot for the summer… …so Taliah loves to get wet, and it’s great for me because the water is where the people go in the summer! And that time is in-between studies… Interesting?I have quoted this website before, but I wanted to again. Some of these Bible insights are really thought provoking! I think this post explains well how powerful words can be. The tongue is small, but like it says in the book of James, it is very powerful!! Now, back to classes… Hebrew Class!Daniel has his second year of Hebrew this year. He did amazing in his first two semesters, getting straight A’s!! I’m so proud of him, and so thankful for this Hebrew New Testament that I got when I was in Israel. It’s so fun to see words I have memorized in the actual text of Scripture! But, it’s so important to remember to look up from the books…and… Look for evangelism!Libraries can be great places to share the Gospel! Especially when you have kids, it can be pretty simple to talk with others parents in a public place. I know Taliah loves to be social, and that’s such a blessing! She’s always very curious of her surroundings, and she’s very good at exploring… …which gives me the opportunity to meet people! Now, back to classes! English Refresher! What’s the difference between Australian English and American English…? Everything!! What’s a “boot” and a “bonnet”? (The truck and hood of a car.) What’s a “rock melon”? (Cantelope) What is “fairy floss”? (Cotton candy) I could go on… Long story short, an English refresher can be a difficult course when you were raised with a different kind of English…but Daniel can do it!! Not in our control…This is a great reminder of how opposite our world is today. Though I understand that this sign is a pun (because of the game controller), it’s just a lie that everything is in our control. Salvation, education, missionary work to Papua New Guinea, our lives, our next breath…are all NOT in our control. This sign is a healthy reminder that we actually don’t control anything - God is the one who controls the world…and He knows what He’s doing, even when we don’t. But, it’s okay to be… Curious! It’s so important to have the humility of a child in every aspect of life. Though no one is born innocent, it’s encouraging to see children learn about things gradually instead of having a mind that is completely distorted by the specific sins of our present world. That’s why we want to teach Taliah about the truths in God’s Word before the world messes with her understanding of the truth. That’s why we think it’s important to share the Gospel around your children. Now…for more classes: Greek class!Though Daniel and I have already taken Greek, Daniel has an official Greek class this semester! This will be a good refresher for him, and I’m sure he’ll do great! Since he has a different teacher this time, he might learn new things. Greek is very important when considering Bible translation overseas! But…what have I been doing…? My classes…I have been doing classes too! The classes I’m doing are separate from seminary, but it’s still a decent load. My classes so far include English, History of Eschatology, Hebrew, Man and Sin, and Scripture and God! But why the picture of a “missing manual” computer book? That’s because I’m working on something I should be able to share soon…and it has to do with a secretive manual! But…for now…more on Taliah! Taliah’s classes!Right now, Taliah’s “classes” are mostly play! She’s learning so much just through exploration. I can’t wait to homeschool her! She already seems to love learning! Now, back to Daniel’s classes: Preaching!Daniel has a preaching class this semester. I LOVE hearing him preach, so I’m very excited about this class. This picture seemed to fit because it shows how much detail many pastors have to go through in sermon prep. I was so excited to hear Daniel’s sermon! It was amazing (see the link under the first set of pictures). What’s next? Survey of Church History!Okay, maybe this is more like Jewish history, but church history includes some Jewish history! This class is very exciting! Reading through Daniel’s books with him has been very insightful. It’s amazing how the Gospel went forth in such a mighty way despite opposition. Last class… Pastoral Leadership! This class often has an emphasis on being a godly leader in the home. I thought these pictures illustrated well how Daniel does that! Here Daniel and Taliah made a little hummingbird together, which for us is a reminder to never stop moving - to be fervent in sharing the Gospel and pressing on towards the end! Would you consider learning more about our mission or supporting us? Any donations go to help us with current seminary/learning expenses. Have you considered going or sending yourself? Please think seriously about missions and evangelism before it’s too late! Any funds go to help us with our current studies!!
