Crazy evangelism stories…and a new surprise…Kirk Cameron and Mexico! From an unforgettable Kirk Cameron experience at another local library, to exciting evangelism encounters, to the new seminary school schedule—things have been busy!! I’ll share more about Kirk’s story hour below, but I just wanted to say how much I appreciate how Kirk intentionally includes the Gospel within his presentations…that is honestly the best part! And we have been blessed lately through trying out a new evangelism tactic (an idea from a friend) that has really been getting LOTS of people to stop and talk to us, so that has been a huge blessing as well! So…let me ask you…are there only two religions? The answer we were looking for is yes, though many Christians say no. There’s the truth (religion one) and then there’s everything else (religion two). Everything is either true or false—especially when it comes to spiritual matters, because everyone will be judged by God for their sin (lying, stealing, blasphemy, etc.), and because of that they should end up in Hell…without the hope of the Gospel! Though we aren’t typically “sign” people, this sign has been super helpful in showing people their need for a Savior!! Also, Daniel took a last minute service project trip to Mexico! It was such an incredible opportunity for him to be able to help out a Spanish-speaking seminary that’s similar in theology to the one at our church! I was SO proud of hearing about all his hard work. He’s such a professional at anything handy!! On top of that, seminary has started, so it’s been very busy trying to manage that on top of everything else, but it’s been a steady start! Missions - us currentlyOur goal (Lord willing) is Papua New Guinea. Why? It doesn’t make any sense not to go. Especially because Daniel is from Australia (which is just south of Papua New Guinea), the mission of going to the unreached weights heavily on our hearts. Two more years of seminary left! Missions - around the worldIf you’re more interested in what we mean by missions, please see the previous blog. In that blog I shared about how a missionary woman spoke on “women in missions” at a conference we went to, and she shared how it was so difficult it come back to the US and have people constantly ask her about the food or the weather—when she really just wanted to talk about the Gospel! Honestly, what do I think of Papua New Guinea? Well, I’m sure the weather will be horrible because I hate humidity…and as for the food…? I’ll probably throw up a lot of it… I don’t want to go because it’s fun or because it’s easy. It’s hard and there’s not much about Papua New Guinea that looks appealing to me. I’m not interested in going because I love being outdoors (I definitely don’t) or because I like adventurous, isolated terrains (I certainly do NOT!!)—but the need is there, so that’s why the plan is to go. So…what would happen if we did take less of our precious time focusing on “desserts around the world”, and more of our time on sharing the Gospel, thinking on the things of God, and learning more about the actual need for missions? Just some food for thought… (Pun intended!) Taliah! While (clearly) not at the expense of having fun, summer park activities, I have been so excited to start teaching Taliah about the things of God! We have had so many fun opportunities! She is growing so fast! I can’t wait to start teaching her more as she grows… …starting with evangelism!! Taliah’s learningEvangelism at our local college campus has been my favorite ministry opportunity we have had so far. It’s my absolute favorite part of the week, because the Gospel goes out and there is plenty of good fellowship. The first time we went specifically to ASU (the above campus) since they started school was SOO encouraging! We had 4 teams—12 people—with 4 new faces to the campus!! A close friend and I had an incredible conversation with a seeking, open young lady, and it was such an incredible time! And it’s such a joy to have Taliah with us during the time evangelizing! She definitely is the one motivating me sometimes, which is so helpful!! Seminary highlightsSeminary just started, but it’s already very busy! This year Daniel has two Hebrew classes, one Greek class, a Preaching class, a Pastoral Leadership class, and a Theology class. I know that he will do great in all of them…and I’m especially excited to hear about his favorites… …and to hear him preach… I can’t wait!! My college!I included this picture because, though I loved Bible college before marriage, it’s very true that two are better than one, and I’m so thankful to be able to finish up my degree within marriage! My summer classes are still going, and I really like them! This semester I have an ethics class, a biblical counseling class, a class on Revelation, a class on Ecclesiastes, and church history. Though church history is my favorite topic (besides maybe Ecclesiastes), my ethics course has been my favorite this semester due to the lively class discussions and the way the entire class is structured. I will admit though that I’m more focused on homeschooling, tutoring, and teaching than I am on my actual classes, so it will be good when I’m more freed up so that I can spend more time using what I’ve learned to find creative ways to share the Gospel with children! Ministry HighlightAs you can see from this screenshot, my ministry highlight for this blog is Brave Books!! Please look into their ministry! They provide solid, biblical homeschooling (and Christian parenting) resources that will be an encouragement to your family!! Use this link here to visit their website: Brave Books link: bravebooks.us/products/freedom-island-book-club And be sure to specifically look at this one from Kirk Cameron! Prayer RequestsTypical prayer requests! Parenting wisdom is always necessary! With seminary, time management is a huge point of prayer that is deeply appreciated. Our sign approach has been very exciting within our evangelism circles, so that has been an answer to prayer, but we would love for more people to come out so that we can share the Gospel more broadly…despite the heat. Having a more firm plan set for missions is also constantly on our hearts, so that’s definitely a prayer request as well! Flashback from a year ago!!Though seminary is on now, we don’t want to lose our fervor for sharing the Gospel. We are so thankful for our time at the Ambassador’s Academy (see our post from Aug. 2022), and I am so thankful to still have a vibrant group text with some of the ladies from the group where we share prayer requests regarding evangelism. This is our primary task as Christians, and as we grow in maturity, we should be MORE excited to share the Gospel every day rather than less excited, because if we’re truly saved we should be growing in our faith. The message of the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ—God in the flesh—should never get old. It should cause us to fall on our knees and repent afresh each day and strive after building His kingdom, all the while knowing that we are saved by grace though faith, not of our own works. Wait…did I mention a surprise earlier..? Oh, I think the Gospel is exciting enough—you might just have to wait until the next blog for the (little) surprise. :) Interested in helping us or joining what we’re doing?
