How are studies, and how is Taliah??We have been doing well!!We had a busy month of studying and activities!! The church has been our home, and books have been our friends. Taliah has been growing like crazy, and she has been doing so much more lately! Here are some pictures of us sharing the Gospel at a Halloween themed event! How has other evangelism been going? What Time is Purple?Find the booklet in these pictures!! Evangelism has been going really well! One of our elders started a door to door evangelism ministry that we do on Fridays now, so we have been blessed talking to Hindus, Muslims, professed Christians, and everyone in between!! As a quick recap, we are training to be missionaries to Papua New Guinea, and my husband is in seminary at our church to prepare for the field. The plan is to plant a church among the unreached tribes of the Finisterre Mountains of Papua New Guinea, by sharing the Gospel with them, giving them the Scripture in their language, and preparing them to have their own church. So, for now, we are preparing and sharing the Gospel with people here, because there’s no promise of tomorrow. OT Intro and Survey class! What is this class all about? Old Testament Intro and Survey covers the entire Old Testament! One requirement for the class is to read the whole Old Testament (a good requirement in our opinion). Daniel has been reading his Bible, and telling me all kinds of things that neither of us have thought of before just through Genesis! This book I have pictured is also reading material for the class. It was written in the 1800’s!! Listening and learning…Taliah, on the other hand, has been learning through observing! This is her, shown in a Living Waters video!!!’ I pray she’s curious about the Gospel… …and she certainly looks like it in this video below: please watch the whole thing, and look for Taliah at 4min in! Living Waters Evangelism Video: youtu.be/OhB1uUmxsXA So, what about evangelism…? First Fridays! In addition to door to door, Mill Ave., parks, and other random evangelism encounters, First Fridays is always an exciting place to share the Gospel. I couldn’t believe this sign!! Sin is so blatant in the streets here. Sometimes it makes me forget about the seriousness of my own sin, because I can be focused on what THEY’RE doing wrong. It’s so important to remember that wasting time, (not redeeming the time, see Eph. 5:16) not doing the good that you know you should be doing, (Jas. 4:17) and not thinking on things that are of God (Phil. 4:8) are sinful too. Sinful attitudes are still sin! Thats why the Gospel is so amazing! No one can be perfect, and no one can stop sinning, but Jesus CAN’T sin! His perfect life, death, and resurrection can save anyone who repents and trusts in Him! That’s the focus every believer should have… …even when they have to read English Grammar books!!One of Daniel’s classes is on grammar! This class helps with all the other classes, because, especially when learning foreign languages, most people aren’t caught up enough in English to understand the grammar of other tongues. Daniel is blessed to be able to just watch the recording of this class, because, in Arizona Mountain time, it’s taught at 3:30am!! We already have to be at Hebrew class by 5:30am, so it’s REALLY nice that Daniel doesn’t have this class that early! But guess who’s okay getting up early? Taliah! Here’s some pictures of her playing at the park! We had some good Gospel conversations when we went to the park, and Taliah had so much fun!! I love how she’s starting to do more and learning to enjoy things more!! She even got a little wet! ;) Then, after the fun at the park, we went to the library!! Can you find the booklet? If you’re still getting caught up, these little books are Gospel booklets that we got from Todd Friel’s ministry. I’m sure you can see the booklet in the second picture, but can you see the one in the first picture (to the left)? Hint: it’s on the lower shelf. Answer: It’s in-between the books, the ninth from the right and the thirteenth from the left. 😁 So…what has Daniel been reading the most for seminary? Hebrew!!Daniel has a LOT of homework to do in Hebrew, but it’s been going really well!! Hebrew is an important thing to learn for ministry in the tribe, because the Old Testament was written in Hebrew. If we’re able to translate the Scriptures into a language that it has never been translated into before, in the remote tribe we want to work with in Papua New Guinea, this skill will be very helpful! We plan to plant a church that is self-sustaining after we learn the language and culture of the people, giving them the Gospel by teaching chronologically through the Bible. Remember that we English speakers wouldn’t have the Bible in our language if someone hadn’t translated it. And remember that someone had to teach us the Gospel, someone had to show us how to come to Christ (see Rom. 10:14). That’s why we’re learning Hebrew!! Silly and serious!I love how much Daniel and Taliah are learning! Both of their personalities are unique and awesome!! Taliah can be so funny! Daniel is hilarious too, and he’s so serious about what he’s doing! But he can have fun too… Daniel at the park!!When he can, it’s great when Daniel can come to the park with us too!! He has had good conversations at parks, and he can (kind of) study there. :) Here’s some pics of him at one of our favorite parks. I love watching Taliah watch him!! But then he’s back to studying… Theology I!These are two of his many books that Daniel is reading for Theology class. He’s finished the first one, and he’s starting soon on the next one! Daniel really liked his professor for this class. He’s clearly intentional about praying before class, and trying to work with students so that they can get the work done reasonably. I pray that I can be a loving teacher like that to Taliah!! Fun at the mall!!Here’s some pictures of Taliah at the mall!! She loves going places! Pray that people will get the Gospel from tracts we leave places, and from ones we are able to give to people. Taliah is such a joy to have in public! But wait… WHY RUIN THIS BLOG WITH A DISGUSTING PICTURE?!?Why a picture of an extremely successfully spider web?? It reminded me of our lives. We think we know what we’re doing, and what’s going to happen tomorrow, but we have no idea. Do you ever think about what little bugs are thinking before they get to that web? What bug plans to get trapped in such a web?? Who plans their day of death? On a lighter note…Hermeneutics class!! What in the world does that mean? Hermeneutics is the study of how one interrupts the Scriptures. Daniel has plenty of reading and papers to write for this class. More on Taliah…? She’s so smiley!I love her many emotions! She’s getting so big!! The smaller pics show Taliah playing with a little chair she has. She’s learning so much!! And so is Daniel! Pastoral Leadership! This is the last seminary class of Daniel’s that I want to highlight. This is a required book for Daniel’s class on pastoral ministry. He says it’s an interesting read… …and the title was intriguing to me. Some people tend to look for a “special call” from the Lord to become a missionary. Well… …we didn’t get that… …so why are we going…? …because the Bible commands us to share the Gospel to every creature! So, how are we doing that? By sharing the Gospel close to Reformation Day!What’s Reformation Day? You might call it Halloween. It’s the day that Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door in Wittenberg!! YAY! Even the people of Papua New Guinea love Martin Luther (Lutherans came to “catechise” the tribes a few generations back, but the Gospel has been completely lost since then). What am I talking about? In America, Halloween is a celebration of evil, the Day of the Dead, but in historic Germany, it was a day to mark the beginning of the Protestant church. So, here are some pictures of Taliah playing, helping hand out tracts, and putting booklets in a Halloween store! How do we celebrate Reformation Day? By chopstick drumming!! Just kidding! This was taken while out to eat with a friend from church before some evangelism. It was an awesome time! I could do an entire blog on just pictures of Taliah, and of course ones with Daniel and Taliah… …but I honestly wouldn’t want to, because that’s not what this blog is about. What is it about? The Gospel! We want to share the Gospel to the unreached. Thankful for all that God has done for us through Jesus Christ, we want to serve Him! There is a time for fun, and a time for seriousness, and I’m so glad that I have a husband who understands that well! We don’t want to lose our focus! Do you want to join us? Donate?
