…exciting evangelism and new schooling ideas!Campus ministry - summer edition!Welcome to our blog! Our names are Daniel and Sarah Bruce. We are missionaries in training to Papua New Guinea… …and while we’re in America, we’re very passionate about local evangelism! Since we recently moved to a great place that’s closer to church and closer to campus ministry, we have been excited to be involved in more ministry opportunities due to our great location! And, since campus ministry takes a break for the summer, we have had lots of great opportunities through doing evangelism at a park close to the college campus. It has been incredible to have great fellowship with friends at church, and great conversations with the unsaved at the park. We have also done some “chalk evangelism” at some local parks, which has been really fun as well! Missions - us currentlySince Daniel finished his second year of seminary last month - he is halfway through! If it’s in God’s plan, our desire is to be missionaries in Papua New Guinea sometime after Daniel finishes seminary. Why Papua New Guinea? The simple answer is because it doesn’t look like anywhere has a bigger need, in the sense that the people of the Finisterre mountains (in Papua New Guinea) have no Bible in their language and no solid churches to teach them the Gospel. On top of that, they have heard of neighboring tribes who have heard the Gospel, and they have been begging for missionaries for years. So, why wouldn’t we go there if we could? In our minds it doesn’t make sense not to go. Missions - around the worldWe have some exciting missionary news that we plan to share in the next blog! But, for now, I wanted to share this cool Bible insights graph! Isn’t it interesting? Have you ever considered that more languages DON’T have Scripture than those that do? Yet look at all the resources we have! Taliah! And look at the blessing we have!! Since it’s (characteristically) hot in Phoenix for the summer, it’s great to spend time at local parks in splash pads to cool off! Parks are incredible Gospel opportunities, and fun times for Taliah! We have been very blessed to be her parents! And…when she’s had her time of play for the day…it’s sooo exciting for me to think about homeschooling! Taliah’s learning! This is Taliah’s new homeschool corner! Whether it’s at home, out at the library in a cool castle, or anywhere else, it’s been awesome to teach Taliah basic concepts in preparation for homeschooling!! Right now, Taliah has 6 “classes”: Bible, music, writing, reading, chores/crafts, and language learning! We want to be really intentional about teaching her biblical concepts early, so it’s been fun to see how much she likes giving out Gospel tracts (which can serve as Bible class), reading stories with biblical themes, and singing Christian songs - even one in Pidgin (a language of Papua New Guinea)! I can’t wait to give more updates as she grows!! Seminary breakRight now, Daniel is in seminary break, which is very, very nice! I love that Daniel has (slightly) more time now to spend with us! Seminary break means a little breather with classes, but Daniel has been working a lot more and also preparing for next semester…so it’s still busy! Daniel has Greek assignments, next semester’s books to read, and a reading group with some others from seminary. As for me, my biggest class load before I graduate is right now! I have 5 classes for the summer, then I should only have 2-3 left to finish at the end of the year! But with all the studying we have to do, it’s very important for us to not lose sight of what our focus really should be…the Gospel! Evangelism! We have been SO blessed to have great conversations this summer in evangelism. Though fruit is not the reason we are out there, we have been soo grateful to have a guy that we shared the Gospel with coming to church with us now! If you didn’t already, please read the Living Waters Gospel tract above! I included the back because it’s helpful to read creative transitions to the Gospel, along with the message itself. Also consider the first picture I have here. The unsaved are in even more danger than merely standing in the way of a truck. Hell is real. So…what should be our response?? If your daughter was in the way of this truck, would you just ignore them…because you didn’t want to come across as a judgmental, helicopter parent? No!! You would explain to them the danger ahead! That’s why we shouldn’t shy away from telling people that they’re not good in God’s eyes, that they have broken God’s Law (such as lying, stealing, blasphemy, etc.), and that they need Christ to be saved! Ministry HighlightI wanted to highlight Living Waters for this blog. We honestly could highlight them every single blog, because they’re SO incredible!! Why? Well…I can’t think of any other ministry that so clearly displays the Gospel - the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God in the flesh - than their ministry does…and they do so creatively, biblically, and without compromise. Please, I would urge you, don’t just look at this and think “oh cool…good for them…” or “they’re weird…that’s not normal…” Gospel tracts and biblical evangelism should be the norm for every Christian, not just for those who seem to have a “gift” for evangelism…because I wouldn’t say that we have that - evangelism should just be normal for the Christian because of the Great Commission. Okay, here’s what you’ve been waiting for…here’s the link: livingwaters.com/product-category/gospel-tracts/ Go get some tracts!! Prayer RequestsPrayers for evangelism are always appreciated! Okay, I kind of gave it away here, but we would appreciate prayer for a mission conference we’re going to in the future… …but that’s all you can know so far!! As usual, it’s always wise to ask for general prayers in parenting and for time management, because time is soo short, and we can’t get it back! I wanted to close with something special this time: Concluding thoughts…Please read this! It’s the end of Ken Ham’s “My Creation Bible” for children. This little children’s book is incredible, and it’s a very helpful reminder of the need of the Gospel for all people groups. One day, every tribe, tongue, and nation will stand before Him. But until then, we have work to do! So let’s go do it! If you’re interested in learning more about the mission we’re involved with, or helping us along the way, you can email us at [email protected]
